You do not have to mount the Meade weights at the top of the OTA. You can mount them at the bottom of the OTA.

You can get an extra 2 lb. weight, giving you 8 lbs there.

If that's not enough, what do you have on the front/top of the OTA?

At the point you cannot get enough at the back of the scope, you can go to a 3D weight system, like the Losmandy counterweights. They let you move the weights several inches off of the OTA.

Save the ankle weights for weight loss.
