One of the best is probably Landau and Lifshits -it explains properties of such mathematical objects as waves (including Fourie-transformation), properties of mathematical spaces, various possible mathematical symmetries of space-time and how natural laws follow mathematically from those symmetries, mathematical nature and mathematical properties of such mathematical objects as spinor (electron and other fermions), bosons (like a photon), etc.
Basicly, currently all variety of known natural laws, forces and 2 kinds of mathematically possible objects (elementary particles) in our universe is derived (strictly mathematically) from all mathematically allowed symmetries of space-time plus so called "Fundamental constants" - speed of light c, Plank constant h, gravitational constant G and (possibly not fundamental) charge quanta e.
Currently, at present level of mathematics there is no single consistent theory of origin of these fundamental constants - although the string theory may become the one which explains it from pure geometrical properties of symmetric (or supersymmetric) space-time.
So, you may be tempted to say "Aha! Because they now are still working on the origin of fundamental constants and mathematically possible variety of particles within families - here is still room for God."
But I must regret that you will NOT be the inventor of such a "brilliant" idea that everything (or anything) we still do not know is God.
Take a ticket - you are the LAST in the long line of such claimers. Since pre-historic times there were many believers that it is Ra who is the driving force of Sun motion across the sky or it is fertility god Venus who is the driver of sperm+egg embrio development process. Guess, where all these gods and their claimants are? Yes, you already know - discarded by the history of math/physics as unnecessary.
Indeed, why don't we all close science institutions and go worship Ra - instead of learning all this nasty math vector products about conservation of angular momentum of Earth, it is much easier to accept that Earth stands still and it is just Ra pushing Sun across the sky from East to West as a part of his daily duties. Why don't we all sing Haliluja to powerfull Ra and pray at night that he would get a good rest overnight and be in good health and shape to start his job in the next morning again? Can you answer this question?
Also, the picture with gods-drivers and gods-creators seems to be much more logical and understandable to human (especially with no or little education) than some unusual or seemingly illogical mathematical relationships (like Lorents transforms - two moving observers EACH sees his fellow OTHER clocks going SLOW - contrary to any "mundane logic" which would suggest that if you see someone's clock going slow, he in turn should see your clock going fast - there is no "common sense" here and almost zero "understandability").
So, if you personally prefer to use Ra, Zeuses, or other powerfull gods creating space-time or defining fundamental constants - completely fine.
