Harvey, you main problem is trying to put a horse (some methaphysical driver of universe) somewhere inside (or outside) of a car without seeing that a car (universe) is moving by itself on all levels discovered so far.

Despite all mathematics which explains step-by-step where phenomena, laws, forces and objects in our universe come from from less and less numerous fundamental objects and laws which in turn also are mathematical laws and objects, you try to break this mathematical chain in any place and insert gods or other methaphysical entity there. Humans already did that many times over in the past and soon after had to remove their pet gods out of unknown because mathematical explanation filled the gap made those gods completely unnesessary.

You can try to put god instead strings, space-time, waves, false vacuum or any other object scientists are working on - but what is the point in doing that? To only remove it back tomorrow, when origin of false vacuum will be mathematically explained too?

Why don't you go back a few hundreed years and try to explain magnetizm or biological processes on the basis on known THEN mathematical description of electric forces? Sure there were many gaps and unknown fundamentals then to incert various gods and methaphysical "vital forces". Where are all those gods and mataforces today?

Again, today's consistent picture of universe is that given "from above" 3-dimensional symmetric space and symmetric time PLUS a couple of "magic numbers" like c, h, G, e makes all we see around. Next logical step - explain why space is 3-dimensional, symmetric, and why c, h, G and e are exactly what they numerically are. Next step - to explain why the object they mathematically follow from (say, the false vacuum) is such. And so on.

No methaphysical magic, no gods hiding in smoke, or devils behind mirrors.

Only pure math - as it ALWAYS was so far.
