Say, human is a "transitory" specie - we still have hairs, claws (nails), tail (coccyx), etc.

It is always accumulation of changes - gradual (say, due to climate change) or fast-(say, due to esteroid hit) till DNA becomes so different that no viable interbreeding is possible (usually 0.5-1% difference is enough). And this is the definition of separate species (impossibility of interbreeding) which you have to know if you studied biology as you claim.

Classic example of "transitory" specie is a dog - some still can breed with a wolf, but some already not - too different DNA.

Microbiologists deal with "transitory" species of bacteria, viruses, plants (by modifying their DNA) on a daily basis.
