For relativistic time dilation dt=gamma dt' which is calculated for two clocks at the SAME place. And it does not "cancel out".

What u mention is just another relativistic phenomenon (closely related to Doppler shift) which indeed takes place "on top" of the relativistic time dilation.

Exponent is reversible as long as u remember that nth power equation has n roots. Usually ALL of them have physical sense, but we disregard some because we only interested in future solution (positive t), and not the past one. Or only real solution because a complex one corresponds to negative momentum (or negative force or mass or energy) and our problem implies that momentum is positive.

So reversing exponent you get n numbers corresponding to one value of the original function.
