Hi Brian,

Thank for clearing it up. I am just a little slow to catch on to things.

I happen to agree with you on this position. I think that thought is immaterial and that it preceded and caused matter and energy.

But I do have one question about your logic. When you said "Thoughts, being immaterial in nature,..." you made the assumption that thoughts are indeed immaterial. Logically, I don't think you can make this assumption unless you make it clear that it is an assumption, or else deduce it from what you have established up to this point.

People who take the opposite position from you and me claim that thought is material, or at least that it arises strictly from material.

I am reading a book right now ("The User Illusion", by Tor Norretranders) which I think is going to make that argument. I am only a couple chapters in so far, and I think his arguments are weak, but I will reserve judgement until I finish.
