My reaction to reading that science is now proposing that our universe was created from the collision of two previous universes, the collision of two 3-D worlds in a bigger 4-D space, is that science is getting to sound more and more like mythology.

True they have mathematical models and principles that guide their creativity, but we have no real idea if any of the results are trueor not.

Since there is no way to prove if they are true or not, results such as these will become in the future the mythology of our scientific culture. Just as previous myths were given credence because they came from religion, these new myths will be given credence because they come from science. But they are really not very different except in the level of detail, which of course makes them much more believable and interesting.

I'm fascinated. The physicists crank out the solutions, wand we ordinary types scour the news print for descriptions that we can understand, in the hope of learning ever more about how we got here, and maybe even a hint of why. But in science the whys are few and far between.

Scientific simulations can confirm that co2 emmisions is responsible for global warming. That is a why, a very meaningful why. The future of our home called earth depends on our administration coming to believe it. But all this stuff about black holes and big bangs and colliding universes is pure myth. Could be true. No matter. It has nothing to do with ourlives.
