Well, what he probably mean is that before questioning something well established (relativity, evolution, quantum mechanics - which all by the way require no need of god(s)), you have to be competent in these topics.

Denying known facts does not bring respect of others, but may only show uncompetence in the knowledge of the subject you try to argue about.
