re: your 'I claim that if God really existed doing the things people claim he does then atheism wouldn't exist...': God created people with choices; while it would be lovely for him if he could allow himself to break that rule and force a person to accept him in a relationship, he would be contradicting who he is.

re: success in life: rain falls equally on rich and poor, everyone has opportunities for success, again a matter of choice.

Atheism is a range of disbelief in the existence of God. I may not believe your words, but it doesn't mean you don't exist. And we can't exactly complain that people treat God like he's santa and then insist that, to prove himself, he pull tricks and toys out of his bag for us. Even humans prefer the dignity.
