Or, intelligence understood as "creator." And to the fundamentalist, this creator is the foundation and any science must be built upon this rock, interpreted within this framework. But in seeking rational explanations for the mysterious, science, too, absorbs religion into its conceptual mesh by instilling its own creator. Either way, we dream of reason that is transcendent, but we are matter-bound. For this reason, I argue that one must take an agnostic stance between the two.
