Phil.O.Sofir:

Scientists test theories by a method of corroboration, a roundabout, ongoing and gradual process by which confidence approaches the threshold of consensus, or fails to; in other words, scientists use the Scientific Method. About each theory, this method asks a series of questions, and the answers nourish belief, doubt or ambivalence. Yet, these questions are grounded in empirical, observable data, the carpeting of all "proven" theories that serve as the few scientific laws. But when a theory become monumental, it is an obstruction; it, as you observed, creates a sort of faith. Hence, the object of the game should be subject everything we know as "proven" to a bracing scrutiny, "no matter how well they seem to work."
