You said: "We say if you cannot prove something you have no reason to believe it...if I went out today convinced that I was in fact a pink elephant from the 5th dimension, that claim would have equal validity to yours.." Actually, if you did believe you were a pink elephant it would be from a series of patterns which lead you to that belief; in the abstract, while it would make no sense to some others who could point out questions, you would possess many reasons which were very valid to your requirements. so, of course, it would probably end in the stalemate of 'he believes this for himself, and i am unable to offer leverage of my own contradiction to it for whatever reason.' just like if i were to say 'i'm pretty foxy' - well, you know the rest!
so maybe it is also moot that a person may have many many many reasons which support their belief/faith which they may or may not choose to inflict on a hostile audience. behold, the power of choice! it is not to say there is no reason, but perhaps a lack of understanding or feeling of obligation or whatever to further divulge when one has felt failure at trying to convey simpler parts of the reason. no reflection on anyone. it just is. if that's allowed...

not all worth seeing can be examined, not all examined is worth seeing. is that how that goes?
