I believe when people are very near death they may grasp at a current belief of the God they have been most exposed to.

What do they have to lose?

Fear of death may be eased on a victom's mind, if he/she thinks they are going somewhere after death.
But surely someone in our image couldn't make a planet, never mind making life before there was any life.

I wish all the religious leaders would come clean, and admit to their followers, that there is no God/Gods/, or what have you. (jmho)
