In the Story of Genesis, Eve is tempted by Satan to eat of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and is thus expelled from the Garden of Eden. Through Evolution, this world is perfect for us. Nowhere else in this Universe will ever be more so. Lower the atmospheric pressure by 30,000ft. and oxygen becomes too rare to breath, raise the atmospheric pressure by one atmosphere and pure oxygen becomes poisonous. We can coexist in Harmony with most every form of Life. This world provides for us, our every need. So this world IS our Garden of Eden! Through our Industrialization and the detrimental influence of the use of our knowledge, we are polluting and destroying the environment. We put a new species of Life on the Endangered Species List Everyday. We are burning down the Amazon Rain Forest, the source of our global oxygen supply. So because we have eaten the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, we are inviting our expulsion from the Garden of Eden in the form of our own extinction! The Satan aspect of the Tree of Knowledge is the detrimental influence of our knowledge on Life and Creation. If we had never become knowledgable, the environment's ability to provide for us would have controlled our population, and we would have been provided for, for as long as this world might last. The writers of the Bible did not know of how Evolution makes this world's environment perfect for us, nor of the detrimental influence knowledge could have on that environment, but God would have known. So another instance of Biblical allegory interpreted through the scientific understanding we have come to have provides yet another indication of God's Inspiration for the Bible, and therefore another indication of God's True Presence. Also, since scientific understanding is necessary to interpret these stories this way, it indicates that God wanted us to have this knowledge. The God aspect of The Tree of Knowledge is the beneficial influence of our knowledge on Life and Creation. Judgement Day may indeed be approaching, By Our Own Hand! The God Aspect or The Satan Aspect of The Tree of Knowledge? The Choice is Ours. Stewards of The Garden of Eden seems like an appropriate position for God's Image, don't you think? :o)
