Here is an interesting test to see if what you read in faith is older than those at the faith believe. My favorite thing is that some people believe the first five books of the Old Testament were written by Moses. No can do folks! Why? Look for repetition of words being said over and over again. Why is this important? Well, that simply means the words were spoken for generations and the repeatitions were included to help people remember them. If Moses wrote all five books, then the repetition from Exodus to Deut wouldn't be there. Besides a huge thing people that love Jesus always love to forget is that Moses was NOT circumcised! If he was born to a Hebrew, brought up by a Hebrew, knew he was a Hebrew, then how come he was not cut? Neither was his son Aaron who only was circumcised when an angel of god went to kill Moses for the whole deal.
