String theory points to the entire universe, every single particle or wave, being interconnected. The unified field is most likely 26 dimensional and massless. Inorder to make particles, 10 dimensions had to separate from the 26. Fermions or the massive particles of our environment, can only be made in 10 dimensions, more or less. The separation occured when 16 of the 26 dimensions compactified- i.e., they compacted into long but extremely narrow strings that interconnected all the particles being made in 10 dimensions. So the 16 dimensions had essentially zero volume.

An instant later, the 10 dimensional particles had 6 of their dimensions compactify, leaving the 3 space and one time dimension familiar to us and described by the Theory of Relativity. In the 6-D compactification, the particleswere produced in pairs and connected by 6-D compactified strings. These strings later disintegrated during Recombination- when all but 1/237th of the particles recombined to produce light. We are made up of the left over 1/237. The disintegrated 6-d strings became axions, which is thought to make up most of the Dark Matter in the universe.

So the 6-d strings do not provide connectedness. Rather since axions have no temperature, it is a super fluid that we are emmersed in. In earlier posts I`ve mentioned this supernatural medium as the mechanism of astral projection and life after death.

The universal interconnectedness is provided by the compactified 16-D strings which have never disintegrated. They still connect everything with everything else. The scientific evidense that they actually exist is, by the way, the value of the cosmological constant, which is accelerating the expansion of the universe. Assuming an equipartition of energy in the original 26 dimensions, then the expansive cosmological constant is given by 16/26, and the contractive omega due to mass, mostly dark matter, is given by 10/26. These numbers are consistent with supernovae measurements.

Sorry to babble on. The point is that new science also says that everything is interconnected.
