First, mine is not an attempt to view God from a christian perspective, but rather from the perspective that He IS a personified entity who IS Truly Present, the Creator of All that IS.
You suggest that the statement "Thy Will Be Done" doesn`t mean that it will happen, but when it IS God`s Will, it Does, except where He sanctifies the soul of self-awareness, as awareness in its own right, through the Gift of Free-Will.
It IS God`s Will to expand His Truth, His Love, and His Consciousness, Eternally, throughout the Eternal Void.
J.C. was a man, and as such, possessed Free-Will. He chose to accept the Will of His Father in Heaven as His Own, thus not my will, but yours be done.
Because God composed Creation out of His Very Own Soul, does not mean He cannot hold Himself above that Creation, while at the same time being One with it. God IS Total-Consciousness, whereas the most minute aspect of God IS as Conscious as IS the whole, and the whole IS Conscious of each and every minute aspect. :o)
God Created the Universe as an incubator for the Creation of New Life, and that Life may evolve even until it becomes equal unto God, and that IS why God would create that which was going to become Himself anyway. :o)
