Let`s for simplicity call a generation 25 years. Each and every person on earth (Jesus excepted) has and had two parents at conception.
I have two parents, four grandparents, eight great grandparents, from sixteen of their parents from thirty two from sixty four, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192, 16384, 32768, 65536, 131072, 262144, 524288, 1048576, 2097152, 4194304, 8388608, 16777216, 33554432, 67108864, 134217728, 238 million, 476 million, 952 million,
1.9 billion, 3.8 billion, 7.6 billion, 15.2 billion, 30.4 billion, 60.8 billion, 121.6 billion, 243.2 billion, 486.4 Billion.

Okay, that`s 40 generations at twenty five years each, so four per hundred years, so 1000 years.

So at the turn of the last millenium I personally had 486 billion great great great etc. grandparents. That`s a lot of people to make me. And the population of earth then was so small compared to now, let alone compared to 486 billion.

So how can that be? A lot of incest for starters. For all of us. Or maybe all of history is illusion and there only is "now" and all of our imagined histories.

A puzzle to stimulate discussion...
