You are confusing religion with belief in a higher power such as God. Don`t you realize that religion is a creation of men whereas God created men? When you compare religion to belief in God, it is like comparing apples with oranges. Religion does, as you say, sell things. God gives things. God gave you the universe to stand in awe of as you also say. God does not sell you the universe. He doesn`t have to. Just look at it, it`s free to all who will look. And if you look just a little further you will see God and feel His presence in all those things you stand in awe of, all those things. The only explanation for the universe is God. The universe could not exist as it does without order and who but God could be powerful enough to order the universe? Give your mom a break and stop philosophizing. She knows something you don`t and all you have to do is ask. |
