Hilbert wasn't being arrogant, and he wasn't claiming that God is a less than perfect imitation of us. Your comment is pretty much the height of irony, at least the way I look at it. Fundamentalists are the ones who degrade their God by claiming that a supposed omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being has so much in common with us. What pride! An infinite being that experiences love, anger, jealousy, wrath, just like us. I don't see how this is possible, and frankly I think it's an insult to any being that could possibly be called God.
