I agree with the Spaceman that in many people (myself included to a certain extent,) that the supposed nature of the Christian God is what drives many people away from it, not neccesarily a dislike of faith in general. While I personally am not too big on the faith thing, I have friends who do want to believe, very much so, in a higher power. Regarding the Christian God, though, while they may be able to believe in him, they could never love him for what he does to his creations. I for one couldn't rest easily in Heaven knowing there was even one soul burning in Hell. It's monstrous in an ability I'm unable to properly articulate. If I ever came to believe in Jesus, it would be out of stark horror and fear and servile sniveling rather than anything approaching genuine love and adoration. When your missionaries tell me that that's what a supposed perfect, omnipotent Creator wants out of me in this life, it rubs me the wrong way.
