I believe that God or whomever, or whatever, revealed different aspects of who or what to different peoples who then created different religions.

Buddhists created the idea of reincarnation which then took hold in all eastern religions. But the Buddhists refuse to say what is reborn. Hindus claim it is the soul.

The original idea of the soul came from the Greek philosophers and was adopted by the Christians. It answers the question of what is reborn. Ironically the fundamentalist Christians, following Paul, claim that rebirth happens while you are alive. Otherwise heaven is just a holding place while awaiting another birth.

So you can see the limitations of believing in only one religion to the exclusion of all others.
