Visual Thinking

I know that a lot of my thinking actually happens in visual terms. In my mind's eye I can clearly see things that are often very difficult to express in words. I suppose that's why some people often resort to diagrams to explain themselves.

I also heard that there are different ways of thinking about the same thing, but as far as I can tell all ways of thinking are based on some sense impression. Apparently no one can think purely in the abstract, or if they do they just won't be able to communicate their ideas.
