Hi Michael,

I hate to butt in this way, but your question to Tim is a great example of what I was talking about in my post at http://www.astronomy.net/forums/god/messages/29237.shtml

As soon as you ask "What?" you are casting about outside the domain of mathematics. As soon as you answer "What?" with something real, like an apple, you have established part of the isomorphism I talked about and you are no longer in the domain of mathematics. At this point, you are doing science. (Incidentally, I consider Applied Math to be Science, not Math.)
