That's sort of the picture that was painted for me about heaven - infinite knowledge and awareness, perfection, love, peace, rested souls, etc.

But even if hell were a mental state, I would still be uneasy of my knowledge that a loved one is suffering and there's nothing I can do to change their eternity...

??

Perhaps in my own mental state, my own version of reality, my loved one is perfectly fine and in heaven; whilst in their reality they are actualy in their own hell. But in that case I would be living a lie, and then I would not be aware of a truth that somebody is suffering. Would heaven have to then be a "lie" in order to satisfy my own selfish perception of what "perfect" ought to be?
