And yet we still refer to God on our currency, in our pledge, and in the courts. Yes, this could be loosely interpreted to refer to other monotheistic gods, but not everybody is a monotheist. Whether its stated explicitly or not, I think this is fundamentally a Christian nation. Whether the founding fathers were Christian or not isn't really the point. It's not what rules were made, but how they were implemented over time.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. I think most of the people in this country are utterly unenlightened, even by 17th century standards.
