Bruce,

I didn't say Van Flandern is a genius, all I said is that I don't think "Van Flandern is a crackpot" can be used as an argument before his crackpottery can be established. That said, I'm inclined to think he is, I even hinted at that possibility in my first post.

This making sense to you and Van Flandern is perfectly ok.

It's OK for me as I'm not an expert, but then I don't trust my own opinions on subjects I don't fully understand, even though I like to discuss them.

On the other hand, it's not OK for VF to spout nonsense as he claims to be an expert.

If you think that Einstein's model of gravity can't answer Van Flandern's questions then you are mistaken

I don't think so, and I doubt VF says so. I think what he's offering is an alternative model which explains the observations. I wasn't aware that he had "chickened out" from making predictions and that's pretty bad for him.

At the same time, he claims to have made right predictions when the traditional model failed. I don't have the references right now but I can dig them up if you're interested.
