I meant to be vague and generalized. It is alright for a scientist to be inaccurate. But to be way off base tells us that this "scientist" didn't repeat the scientific process over and over again for the same experiment. That would this person experiments haphazarly and isn't a credit to the "scientific community". The "other scientists" would "weed him(or her) out". That is what I meant...If Einstein stated that 2E=MC^2, we wouldn't know who Einstein was...
