Thanks.

In my opinion, the only ones who claim that creationism is a valid alternative to evolution are those who really don't understand what science is all about. I've had people ask me why in the world do I believe in evolution, when its implications are so unpleasant to some. They seem to believe that since their beliefs come to them on a silver platter of blind faith, the same must be true for all people, scientists included; that is, they believe that evolutionism is an article of faith, and, all things being equal, we should choose the faith most pleasant to our psyche. Verifiable, schmerifiable! In order to even seriously consider this thought one must have no idea what science means at its most fundamental levels.

I think it's interesting when I look back and childhood and see my proto-atheism starting to form. I always - ALWAYS - even as a six year old, took the idea of the body and blood of Christ to be purely metaphoric. I never saw it as inherently sacred, it was simply our emotional attachment to it that gave it meaning. Stuff like that is always interesting to consider, how my doubting wasn't a spur of the moment thing, it had been incubating since the first time I stepped foot in a church.
