Which very often relies on advice of very few pre-selected individuals and hides failure behind secrecy.

I wonder, could be side effects of huge government inefficient resource-hungry projects be considered as justification of nesessity of government involvement in allocation of resources? Many useful inventions were born out of military and other government initiatives. Like space exploration, or atomic energy, or even microwave cooking.

So, may be there is a some kind of law of development of civilisation - that progress requires sacrifices (including lives)? And the more sacrifices (wars), the faster the progress?

(Like it is possible to decrease entropy in small part of system but only at the expense of increasing it everywhere else.)
