Accelerating Expansion

A recent documentary on BBC world claims that latest Supernovae studies suggest that the universe is expanding and accelerating in its expansion. Consequently, the universe is likely to end in an entropy death with no stars on the sky to be seen (provided there are any intelligence around).
What do you ppl think?
