The main problem I see with your attempt is that space is looking like it is fundamentally related to a quantum theory of gravity, and this is an unsolved problem in physics. If you have the 'correct' postulates of space, then you should be able to derive a quantum theory of gravity, hence solve some of the biggest mysteries confronting science (e.g., what initiated the big bang, was there a singularity, how did inflation occur or did it occur, etc).
