I Am New! I Need Help

I bought my son a Meade DS114 for his birthday. I spent all day reading and putting it together. I followed step by step. I aligned the viewfinder. With even the slightest movement I was having trouble. Couldn't wait until tonight. Huge moon. In the viewfinder, We can't see a thing. I have in the lense it suggested. We can not see anything. I am so frustrated. Can somebody tell a Mom what to do??
