Hi Susi,

Did you get moon in focus? As with Bob's reply, you ought to be able to find the moon even without using the finder scope. From there you can slowly turn the focus knob till it comes in clear.

Also, as Bob said there are stars out almost every night unless it is cloudy. You ought to be able to point the scope in almost any direction and pick up a star. Remember, turn the focus knob slowly knob slowly from one end to the other. As Bob said it is not a zoom knob. You should get something.
