I've recently gotten interested in astronomy and am learning the sky with my 8x40 binoculars and a relative's 60mm refractor. I'd like to get a bigger telescope, specifically a dobsonian reflector, probably an 8" or 10".

For those of you with dobs and small children, in your experience how big a dob can a small child comfortably use? How about your wife?
