What To Look For

I have figured out the coordinate system but now I can`t find anything. Mainly because I don`t know what to look for and at what magnifcation. I can get in the general area of M31 or M27. I know
that pictures in magazines are totally different then when you are actually looking through your scope. I just can`t figure out what I should be looking for.
