Computer Requirements

I have a question about computer requirements for astrophotography.
At this time I am into regular old film and will someday get into digital.
I don`t have a computer at home at this time and would like to know how powerful of a computer I will be satisified and will not be wanting to upgrade in a couple of years. What printer should I get? What scanner should I get? Is the ADM chip as good as the Pentium? What photo program is the best?
I will probably be using the computer for some other applications but not a lot.
I just don`t want to spend a lot on a computer to find that I yearn for more power.
Thanks,
Starman :>)
