500 mhz AMD k6-3
64-128 megs of ram
10 gig hard drive
42x cdrom
17" monitor

Photoshop may be the best....

500 mhz is quite a bit for just photography, but you wont need one for a LONG time (if thats all you do) also, amd`s are quite good. you need the ram to do the high-quality photography ( or any photography:) I wouldnt spend more than like 800 bucks for the whole system ( camera extra) Dont get a scanner for like $299, get a DIGITAL camera, if you can afford it... a digital camera erases the need for a scanner, film, your old camera, developing, and a good camera will get you close to the same resolution as a 35mm. If you are gonna do some digital photography, just scanning the picture will not give you as good quality as a digital one (the hook directly up)
