Eyepieces For F/4 8" Newtonian

I have an f/4 8" Newtonian reflector (Meade LXD55) togehter with a 26
mm Meade Plossl Series 4000 eyepiece and an 8.8 Meade UWA.

For planetary and moon watching I use the Meade UWA in combination
with a Meade #140 2x Barlow lens to get 184X, but the results on
planets do not look very appealing. I think this may be because of low
magnification, so I am planning on getting a shorter focal length
eyepiece. I have been reading a number of
reviews in the focal length range 6-2.5 mm, but the more I read the more
puzzled I am. My telescope may not be the best but this is what I have
and I am not considering an upgrade. I have some questions and would
appreciate any help.

1. Does it make any sense to buy a 3.5-2.5 mm eyepiece for using
it with an f/4 8" Newtonian reflector?

2. If it does, what would be a good choice. I am considering the 2.5
mm Tele Vue Nagler type 6, but I haven't found any review on it. Is
this because of price or is there anything else? Is it because when
used with slow scopes it gives such a small exit pupil size that
renders it useless? I have read good things about the Takahashi 2.8 mm
HI-ORTHO and the new TMB monos, but I am scared by their short eye
relieves.

3. What would be a good 14 mm eyepiece for this telescope?

Thanks in advance. Fernando.
