I've just purchased the 9.7mm 4000 Series and I had heard the same rumour about the threading. So I asked the dealer about it and I was told that, that was just a problem up till 97'. The dealer, just to prove himself right brought out about 10 oculars of the series and tried threading on VARIOUS filter companies on to the EP's. Guess what? It WORKED, so don't be afraid to try out one of Meade's Oculars. The one I purchased has great resolution compared to my previous Ocular and it was a night and day difference for panetary work.

Thanks for answering my question and I hope my little adventure with my dealer about Meade's 4000 series gives you enough confidence to try one again!

Clear Skies!
