I too heard this "problem" was solved. It ain't. After a friend recieved 3 4000 series EP's from Meade (these were replaced because of bad coatings) only 1 filter would fit. The others didn't quite match the machined threads. Thinking this was a filter problem, I tried mine. Same exact thing. Unless these were throw-backs on their shelves for 5 years, I would say that the problem is still out there. Maybe not as bad a s before...but there. However, I'm not saying anything about their optical quality, which by the way seems fine.
