The Meade scope with UHTC has higher transmission at all wavelengths of the visible spectrum than does the Celestron scope, which may perhaps translate to less reflection and less ghosting. The one other optical difference may be in the size of the central obstruction, though I have not looked up the data to compare the two. A smaller fraction of obstruction leads to slightly higher image contrast. In general the optical design of the two brands is very similar, which is why accessories (such as the f/6.3 focal reducer) from one company work just fine on the other's scopes. |
