Astroscan Or Celestron?

Is around $400 better spent on an astroscan or trying to buy $400 worth of celestron?

I am casual, long time binocular watcher, like conveneience, want to go out there in the backyard 20 minutes every clear night. Want to see the red spot, ooh at andromeda, make a list of deep sky stuff like so many notches on my barrel.

Read a review that really talked up the ole astroscan as something for me. Waiting for an email reply from the local astronomy club whose telephone hotline currently lists events two months old. Suggestions?

With 25 years of manufacture, why isn't there a single used astroscan on yahoo or ebay? Is that a good sign?
