No information can propagate faster than the speed of light and no massive object can reach the speed of light. However no such restriction applies to spacetime itself. During the inflationary epoch of the BB spacetime was expanding at many times c, and the coomoving matter and energy contained within that spacetime was also expanding faster than c. At the event horizon of a BH spacetime is infalling at light speed and therefore so is any comoving object. Since no information can propagate faster than c - an outside stationary observer can never know anything about what is at or inside this surface. |
