After all, what keeps light in is gravity, or the curvature of space-time. Light that is not directed directly at the event horizon does escape the black hole. The black hole can only attract light if the light falls straight at the event horizon. Even if space isn't ripped, it is still probably not even space at all. More likely the abscence of space as universal laws do not apply to the situations within the black hole. So what is the black hole then? If it's not a rip (although it has been proven that rips in space-time are possible) then I guess we're back to the drawing board. |
