I heard an example of an experiment which shows the direct relationship of mass and energy... maybe you could further explain or correct... Take a dissolveable spring. compress the spring. once the spring is compressed, place undissolveable bracket straps that hold the spring in its compressed state. Place the compressed spring into a solution of acid. Note: the amount of energy released from the reaction would be slightly more with the compressed spring rather than an identical spring with no compression.
