Also, in Greene's book, "The Elegant Universe," he describes how the Big Crunch and Big Bang are synonymous, because as the universe shrinks lower than the planck length, supersymmetry dictates that the universe can be describes as expanding. I forget where in the book he points toward this, but it's toward the end. The pre-big bang scenario by Guth he presents in the book is interesting, and although I consider myself well-read in cosmology, my knowledge of superstring physics is very limited. I can't respond to your post directly because of my limited knowledge in that area, but I'd like to hear what some of the more learned fellows here have to say! |
