When photon was moving with high energy hf near black hole, total energy was enrgy of BH + energy of photon. As photon moves up, BH gets heavier, and photon-lighter. Ef photon was emitted below event horizon, it eventually loses all energy and disappears, but BH gets heavier by exactly hf/c^2 mass.
