I've seen the blanks up at RTMC and they should work well. The low expansion should allow for a very stable mirror. The prices aren't too far from the price of Pyrex so it should be easy to go for it. I have no projects that need a blank at the present so I haven't tried them. BTW, are you sure that that 12" mirror is TEMPERED??? I would suspect that it would be annealed to keep the shape regular when it gets hot. Tempering a piece of glass puts it under tension and sudden heating would cause fracture at worst and annealing at the least. |
