There are several different ways to do a tool.
You will probably like to do a google search for mirrormaking and you will find that my website will pop up in that search at http://bobmay.astronomy.net and there is a section in the mirrormaking article on doing tile tools.
A tool can be used again and again until the thing is too thin to work with - usually in the 20:1 thickness ratio. That it is convex will only make the job of getting the next mirror concave easier to do.
I'll note that the mirror that you are considering is an excellent starter size.
Have fun and we're here to answeer your questions, even if you think that they are stupid.
